Looking for general information about magnet programs and a chance to ask questions? Come to any of our Magnet Information Sessions, which are held every Thursday evening in January (beginning the 10th) and February. You'll hear a presentation by a magnet representative and have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Remember, each of these presentations is the same; the only differences are the dates. This way, you can choose the Thursday evening in January or February that is most convenient for you.


Magnet Mania & More School Choice Expo

Magnet Mania & More is the biggest event on the magnet calendar. This showcase of all magnet programs and other school choice options gives parents and students the chance to speak with school representatives and collect information about their school choices. This year, other types of school options, such as charter schools, career academies and special academic programs, will also be represented.

In addition, you also have an opportunity to speak with magnet office staff and transportation officials, win prizes and enjoy performances by magnet students. Magnet Mania & More is a spectacular introduction to magnet programs and other school options as well as a great refresher for those families seeking new information.


Magnet District-Wide Open House

All Magnet and Choice Schools
Three one-hour periods: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

You'll notice in the last section of this guide that most magnet schools hold their own open house on special dates. In addition to these, there is one day that all Duval County magnet schools presented in this guide book hold an open house at the same time. This gives you an opportunity to visit several schools on the same day.

For this district-wide open house day, no appointments are necessary; just visit the school or schools of your choice during the times listed above. Note: It is a good idea to arrive at each school at the beginning of the hour, as many schools plan a presentation followed by a tour of the school.

River City Marketplace (Hollywood Theatre) 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.

With the application deadline two weeks away, magnet programs will take to four area malls and premier shopping centers for one day only. Magnet @ the Mall is an event for families to explore magnet school options for their child. Join us to gather various school and general magnet program information.
